Privacy
App-specific privacy information for English Tune-Up. The diagnostics setting itself is controlled inside the app on the Privacy page.
Crash and error reports
Help improve English Tune-Up by sending crash and error reports. Reports can include technical device data and app state, but not lesson audio or answers. Diagnostics are off by default and can be changed inside the app.

Local app data
The app stores practice progress, language, theme, audio settings, and review statistics locally on this device. This is necessary to provide the practice features and remember what you have practiced. You can reset local progress in the app. The app currently has no user accounts.
Writing and speaking review
When you use Writing or Speaking review, your submitted text or audio is sent to the backend and may be processed with Google Gemini or Google Vertex AI so feedback can be created. This processing is used only to provide the requested feedback. Speaking audio may be stored temporarily for processing and cleanup.
Technical data and logs
The web app and backend may process technical data such as IP address, request time, browser or device information, request IDs, rate-limit data, and server logs. This is used to provide the service, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and keep the app secure. The service does not use marketing analytics.
Error reports
Sending crash and error reports with Sentry is disabled by default. If it is enabled after your consent, error reports can include technical device data, app state, request IDs, and stack traces, but should not be used to intentionally submit lesson answers or audio content.
Legal bases
Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for requested app functions, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for security, abuse prevention, and error diagnosis, and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR for legal obligations where they apply.
Processors and transfers
The service is hosted on servers in Germany. Depending on the feature, data may be processed by hosting providers, Google services for AI feedback, and Sentry for error reporting if it is enabled. Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Transfer safeguards can include the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers such as Google and Standard Contractual Clauses for providers such as Sentry. Children
The app is not directed at children under 16. Users under 16 should use the app only with consent from a parent or guardian.
Retention
Local progress remains on your device until you delete or reset it. Server logs and review job data are kept only as long as needed for operation, abuse prevention, debugging, and legal obligations. Temporary speaking audio is intended to be removed after processing or cleanup.
Your rights
Where applicable, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. You can also complain to a data protection authority. Contact hello@englishtuneup.app for privacy requests.
