Privacy information for the English Tune-Up app. The diagnostics setting is changed inside the app on the Privacy page.
Crash and error reports
Help improve English Tune-Up by sending crash and error reports. Reports can include technical device data and app state, but not lesson audio or answers. Diagnostics are off by default. You can change this inside the app.

Data on this device
The app saves your practice progress, language, theme, audio settings, and review stats on this device. This is needed so the app can work and remember your practice. You can reset local progress in the app. The app currently has no user accounts.
Writing and speaking review
When you use Writing or Speaking review, your text or audio is sent to the backend and may be processed with Google Gemini or Google Vertex AI so feedback can be made. This is used only for the feedback you asked for. Speaking audio may be saved for a short time for processing and cleanup.
Technical data and logs
The app and backend may use technical data such as IP address, request time, device information, request IDs, rate-limit data, and server logs. This is used to run the service, prevent abuse, find errors, and keep the app safe. The service does not use marketing analytics.
Error reports
Sending crash and error reports with Sentry is turned off by default. If you turn it on, reports can include technical device data, app state, request IDs, and stack traces.
Legal reasons
Data is used under Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR to provide app functions you request, under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR to keep the app secure, prevent abuse, and fix errors, and under Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR to meet legal duties where they apply.
Service providers
The service is hosted on servers in Germany. Depending on the feature, data may be processed by hosting providers, Google services for AI feedback, and Sentry for error reports if it is turned on. Some providers may process data outside the EU/EEA. Safeguards can include the EU-US Data Privacy Framework for certified providers such as Google and Standard Contractual Clauses for providers such as Sentry. Children
The app is not made for children under 16. Users under 16 should use the app only with permission from a parent or guardian.
How long data is kept
Local progress stays on your device until you delete or reset it. Server logs and review data are kept only as long as needed for operation, abuse prevention, debugging, and legal duties. Temporary speaking audio is meant to be deleted after processing or cleanup.
Your rights
Where applicable, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or object to processing. You can also complain to a data protection authority. Contact hello@englishtuneup.app for privacy requests.
